GHK-Cu Australia: 100mg Copper Peptide

GHK-Cu Australia: the Glow Labs product is a 100mg vial of freeze-dried copper peptide for laboratory research, not a skin serum. GHK is a natural three amino acid peptide, glycine, histidine and lysine, that holds a copper ion. We post from Gippsland, Victoria, with a tracking number. What it is

Research overview

What GHK-Cu is

GHK stands for glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine. It occurs naturally in human plasma and binds copper tightly, and the copper bound form is called GHK-Cu.

In cosmetics it is listed as copper tripeptide-1. PubChem also lists the drug name prezatide copper for the same complex.

What studies have looked at

Most research comes from lab and animal work. Reviews by Pickart and colleagues describe studies of collagen, elastin and glycosaminoglycan production in skin cells, and studies of fibroblast function.

A 2015 review looked at GHK across many skin cell pathways. A 2018 review went further, using gene expression data to map which human genes GHK appears to switch up or down.

Researchers have also studied GHK in models of oxidative stress, the subject of a 2012 review. All three reviews come from the same research group, led by Loren Pickart.

Copper binding and identity

PubChem holds separate records for the bare GHK tripeptide and for its copper complex, and the two have different formulas and masses.

That is why a certificate for a copper peptide should confirm both the peptide and the presence of copper.

Handling a copper peptide

Like other peptides, GHK-Cu powder is hygroscopic, so it soaks up water from the air. Warm the vial to room temperature in a dry place before opening and close it quickly.

Keep a desiccant close. Long term, store the dry vial below -15 °C and away from light.

Regulatory status

In Australia

The TGA lists products containing GHK-Cu among unapproved peptide products that it has not evaluated for safety, quality or effectiveness. Cosmetic creams are a separate category from these vials.

The Glow Labs vial is for laboratory research only and is not a skin care product.

FAQ

Your questions

What is GHK-Cu?

It is the tripeptide glycine, histidine and lysine bound to a copper ion. It occurs naturally in human plasma.

Is a GHK-Cu vial the same as a copper peptide serum?

No. Serums are finished cosmetics. A research vial holds freeze-dried peptide powder for lab study only.

What is the difference between GHK-Cu and AHK-Cu?

Both are copper tripeptides. GHK-Cu starts with glycine; AHK-Cu starts with alanine and was studied mostly in hair follicle research.

Is GHK-Cu approved by the TGA?

No. The TGA names GHK-Cu among unapproved peptide products. The Glow Labs vial is supplied for lab research only.

Is GHK-Cu safe?

The TGA has not evaluated unapproved GHK-Cu products for safety, quality or effectiveness. Glow Labs supplies this vial for lab study only. It is not a medicine.
