What it is
Research overview
What Snap-8 is
Snap-8 is a trade name for acetyl octapeptide-3. PubChem lists its sequence as Ac-EEMQRRAD-NH2, with the acetyl cap on one end and an amide on the other.
Its first six residues match acetyl hexapeptide-3, better known as Argireline, whose sequence is Ac-EEMQRR-NH2. Snap-8 adds alanine and aspartic acid to that chain.

Questions about Snap-8?
Ask on WhatsAppWhat the science has examined
Argireline was designed in a 2002 study to mimic part of SNAP-25, a protein nerve cells rely on to release chemical messengers. The researchers measured how strongly it interfered with that release in lab tests.
For Snap-8 itself, the published work is mostly cosmetic science. Two small clinical studies tested microneedle skin patches whose ingredient lists include acetyl octapeptide-3 alongside other actives, so neither isolates Snap-8 on its own.
Research on the pure peptide is therefore limited.

Reading a Snap-8 certificate
Because Snap-8 and Argireline share six residues, a mass check is the quickest way to tell them apart. PubChem lists Snap-8 at about 1075 g/mol. Argireline is two residues shorter, so its mass is much lower.
A good batch certificate should show a mass that matches Snap-8, not its shorter parent.

Storage notes for this sequence
Snap-8 contains methionine, which peptide suppliers flag as prone to oxidation, and glutamine, which suppliers link to a shorter shelf life. Both are good reasons to keep the dry powder sealed and frozen.
Peptide powders in general soak up moisture from the air. For this vial, bring it to room temperature inside a desiccator before you open it, then close it again quickly.

Regulatory status
In Australia
Acetyl octapeptide-3 is not named in the Poisons Standard (October 2026). Snap-8 powder from Glow Labs is a research chemical, not a cosmetic and not a medicine. It is offered for bench work only.

FAQ
Your questions
What is Snap-8?
Snap-8 is the trade name of acetyl octapeptide-3. PubChem records it as a chain of eight amino acids, Ac-EEMQRRAD-NH2, with a molar mass near 1075 g/mol.
Is Snap-8 a copper peptide?
No. It is acetyl octapeptide-3, a chain of eight amino acids with no copper. It sits in our beauty research range with the copper peptides.
How is Snap-8 related to Argireline?
Snap-8 has the same first six amino acids as Argireline, plus two more at the end.
Is there much research on Snap-8?
Not much. Most studies test cosmetic products that combine it with other ingredients.
How should Snap-8 be stored?
Frozen and sealed with desiccant. Warm the closed vial to room temperature first so the powder stays dry, and limit air contact because its methionine can oxidise.
