What it is
Research overview
What AHK-Cu is
AHK-Cu swaps the first amino acid of GHK-Cu. Instead of glycine it starts with L-alanine, giving L-alanyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine bound to a copper ion.
PubChem records it under CAS 682809-81-0 as a monohydrochloride salt with a mass of 451.39 g/mol.

Questions about AHK-Cu?
Ask on WhatsAppWhat the research has studied
The main study is a 2007 paper in Archives of Pharmacal Research. It tested AHK-Cu on human hair follicles kept alive outside the body and on dermal papilla cells grown in dishes.
Dermal papilla cells are special fibroblasts at the base of a hair follicle. The team measured follicle length, cell growth and markers of cell death.
That is lab work on tissue and cells, not a clinical trial. Published research on AHK-Cu is still thin compared with GHK-Cu.
AHK-Cu compared with GHK-Cu
The two complexes differ by a single amino acid at the start of the chain. Alanine carries a small methyl side group, while glycine carries none.
GHK-Cu papers range across skin, wound and gene expression work, while the main AHK-Cu paper focused on hair follicle cells.
PubChem lists the two as separate records, with different formulas and charges. The peptide chains differ by one CH2 unit, because alanine carries a methyl group where glycine carries a hydrogen.

Storing the 50mg vial
Peptide guides recommend a tightly closed vial below -15 °C for long holding, with 4 °C fine for short spells.
Peptides tend to draw in moisture, so keep a desiccator or a pack of desiccant beside the vial, and let it reach room temperature before opening. Keep it dark as well.

Regulatory status
In Australia
No entry in the October 2026 Poisons Standard names AHK-Cu. The standard does carry a Schedule 4 group entry for some copper compounds, with listed exceptions.
AHK-Cu from Glow Labs is a raw research material. It is not a hair product or a cosmetic, and we sell it only for bench study.

FAQ
Your questions
What is AHK-Cu?
A copper tripeptide made of alanine, histidine and lysine. It is a close relative of GHK-Cu.
Is AHK-Cu a peptide?
Yes. It is a short chain of three amino acids, alanine, histidine and lysine, which makes it a tripeptide. PubChem lists it as a copper complex of that chain.
What has AHK-Cu been studied for?
A 2007 study tested it on human hair follicles and dermal papilla cells in the lab.
Which copper peptide has more research, AHK-Cu or GHK-Cu?
GHK-Cu, by a wide margin. AHK-Cu rests mainly on a small number of lab studies.
How should AHK-Cu be stored?
Frozen, sealed and dark, with desiccant beside it, and opened only once the vial is warm.
