What Epitalon is
Epitalon is the tetrapeptide alanine, glutamic acid, aspartic acid, glycine. A 2025 review explains it was designed from the amino acid make-up of epithalamin, an extract of cow pineal glands.
With a mass near 390 g/mol it is a very small, simple peptide.

In a 2003 study, Epitalon was added to lab-grown human foetal fibroblasts. These cells had no working telomerase at the start. The authors then reported telomerase activity and longer telomeres in them.
A 2025 review gathers 25 years of cell, animal and computer modelling work, including studies on melatonin production and antioxidant activity.

Epitalon and epithalamin
Epithalamin is a complex mix of peptides extracted from pineal glands. Epitalon is a single, defined four residue peptide made by chemical synthesis.
That difference matters in research. Epitalon has one defined sequence, while epithalamin is a mix of many peptides.
The 2025 review notes Epitalon was later reported in pineal gland peptide preparations too.
A separate 2025 paper in Biogerontology also looked at telomere length in human cell lines, which shows the topic is still being studied.

Keeping Epitalon dry and frozen
Bachem's handling guide says peptides tend to soak up water from the air. That water lowers the amount of peptide in the powder and can make it less stable. So keep the Epitalon vial shut tight, with a desiccant pack beside it.
For long-term storage keep it frozen, and let it reach room temperature before you open it.
