What it is

Research overview

What SLU-PP-332 is

SLU-PP-332 is a benzohydrazide linked to a naphthalene ring. PubChem lists it as 4-hydroxy-N'-(naphthalen-2-ylmethylene)benzohydrazide, with a mass of about 290 g/mol.

There are no amino acids in it. It is a classic drug-like small molecule.

What the studies examined

A 2023 paper in ACS Chemical Biology reported SLU-PP-332 as an agonist of all three estrogen-related receptors. These are ERR alpha, beta and gamma. It was most potent at ERR alpha. The team studied muscle cells and mice, looking at muscle fibre types and exercise endurance.

A 2024 follow-up in the Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics tested it in obese mouse models and measured energy use and fat oxidation.

In 2026 an anti-doping chemistry paper mapped its breakdown products using human liver enzymes in the lab. The authors did this because of its potential misuse in sport. No human trials appear in these papers.

Why sports testing labs study it

Because SLU-PP-332 was described as an exercise mimetic, anti-doping chemists in 2026 characterised it by high resolution mass spectrometry. They reported nine metabolites from human liver enzyme tests.

That work gives labs reference data for detecting the compound, which is useful for anyone confirming identity too.

Storing a small molecule

A peptide supplier's storage guide names moisture, heat and light as the main risks to stored solids. It was written for peptides, not small molecules, so read it as general advice: keep the sealed vial cool, dark and dry with desiccant.

Regulatory status

In Australia

A text search of Australia's Poisons Standard, October 2026 edition, turned up no entry for SLU-PP-332. A missing listing does not mean the compound is approved, and this page takes no position on its legal standing.

SLU-PP-332 is an experimental compound, sold here strictly as a bench chemical for lab work, and anti-doping labs already study how to detect it.

FAQ

Your questions

Is SLU-PP-332 a peptide?

No. It is a small synthetic molecule, a benzohydrazide, that acts on ERR nuclear receptors.

What does ERR mean?

Short for estrogen-related receptor. SLU-PP-332 switches on all three kinds, alpha, beta and gamma, in lab tests.

Is SLU-PP-332 orally bioavailable?

Not well. A 2026 mouse paper from the team that first made it says SLU-PP-332 lacks oral bioavailability. In mice, very little of an oral amount reached the bloodstream. The same paper described SLU-PP-915, a chemically distinct compound that is orally bioavailable. We found no human clinical trial records for SLU-PP-332 on PubMed or ClinicalTrials.gov.

Is SLU-PP-332 banned in sport?

The World Anti-Doping Agency Prohibited List we read for our guide does not name it. WADA's 2027 list, valid from 1 January 2027, adds SLU-PP-332, SLU-PP-915 and related substances as metabolic modulators. A 2026 lab study set out ways to detect it and its breakdown products, citing its doping potential.
