What kisspeptin-10 is
The KiSS-1 gene codes for the kisspeptins. Researchers in 2001 isolated 54, 14 and 13 residue forms from human placenta and showed they bind the receptor then called GPR54.
Kisspeptin-10 is the ten residue end piece shared by those forms. PubChem also lists it as human metastin 45-54.

Kisspeptins signal to GnRH neurons, which in turn drive LH and FSH release from the pituitary. A 2011 study in healthy men measured how LH levels and pulse patterns changed after kisspeptin-10.
A 2026 study in healthy men tracked gonadotropin hormones over 12 days of repeated kisspeptin-10.

Why kisspeptins matter in hormone research
Their receptor is highly expressed in the placenta, pituitary, pancreas and spinal cord.

Keeping kisspeptin-10 stable
JPT lists tryptophan and asparagine among the residues most prone to oxidation and hydrolysis. Peptides with these parts need extra care. Cold, dark and dry storage in a sealed vial is the standard approach.
Bachem recommends below -15 °C for long holding and advises against storing peptide solutions for more than a few weeks frozen.

Regulatory status
In Australia
Australia's Poisons Standard (October 2026) has no entry naming kisspeptin-10. Being left off that list is not the same as being approved as a medicine. Glow Labs supplies it to laboratories only.
From 1 January 2027 the World Anti-Doping Agency's Prohibited List names kisspeptin and its agonist analogues under S2.2.1, the testosterone stimulating peptides in males.
