5-Amino-1MQ Australia: 50mg Research Compound
5-Amino-1MQ Australia searches often sit next to peptides, but it is a small molecule, not a peptide at all. Its full name is 5-amino-1-methylquinolinium. Lab studies use it to block an enzyme called NNMT. Glow Labs lists a 50mg vial. Whenever stock runs out, a WhatsApp message to us books a vial from the next batch. Parcels go out from Gippsland in Victoria with tracking, and delivery takes 2-3 days.

What it is
Research overview
What 5-Amino-1MQ is
5-Amino-1MQ is a quinoline ring with an amino group and a methyl group on its nitrogen. That nitrogen carries a permanent positive charge, which is why PubChem writes its formula as C10H11N2+.
It has no amino acid chain, so it is not a peptide.

Questions about 5-Amino-1MQ?
Ask on WhatsAppWhat research has examined
The compound came from work at the University of Texas Medical Branch on inhibitors of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase, or NNMT. NNMT is an enzyme inside cells that is linked to energy use and metabolism.
A 2018 paper tested how well a series of these inhibitors cross cell membranes and how selective they are. The team then studied them in mice fed a high fat diet.
A 2022 follow-up in diet-induced obese mice combined the inhibitor with a low fat diet and compared gut bacteria between groups.
So far the published work is in cells and mice. There are no completed human trials in the papers listed here.

Why NNMT draws research interest
As its name says, nicotinamide N-methyltransferase adds a methyl group to nicotinamide. The 2018 paper describes newly found roles for it in cell metabolism and energy balance, which is why it became a research target.
The 2018 team also checked that their inhibitors did not block closely related methyltransferase enzymes. That check is a key step before any compound is used as a selective research tool.
Storage of the solid
As a small molecule it does not have the same fragile amide backbone as a peptide. Even so, a dry, sealed, cool and dark container is the sensible default for any research chemical.
A general peptide storage guide warns that moisture can slowly break down stored peptides. The same steps make sense for this solid: keep the vial tightly sealed with desiccant nearby, and open it as little as possible.

Regulatory status
In Australia
Our search of the October 2026 Poisons Standard found no entry for 5-Amino-1MQ, for its full name 5-amino-1-methylquinolinium, or for NNMT inhibitors. Missing from that list does not make it a medicine or approve any use.
Our 5-Amino-1MQ is offered as a laboratory chemical and nothing more. It is not sold for people or animals, and we make no claim about any use outside the lab.

FAQ
Your questions
What is 5-Amino-1MQ?
It is a small quinolinium molecule with a fixed positive charge. Lab teams use it as a research tool to block NNMT, an enzyme inside cells. Published studies so far are in cells and mice.
Is 5-Amino-1MQ a peptide?
No. It is a small molecule called 5-amino-1-methylquinolinium. It has no amino acid chain.
What is NNMT?
Nicotinamide N-methyltransferase is an enzyme in cells. 5-Amino-1MQ was developed as a research tool to block it.
Are there 5-Amino-1MQ human trials?
The papers cited here describe cell and mouse studies only, with no completed human trials. Our 5-Amino-1MQ guide covers what is still unknown.
